Meg Sharman Exercise Physiologist Mobile Services Sutherland Shire and Sydney

Before I became an exercise physiologist, I lived a largely sedentary life. Through my twenties and into my thirties, movement wasn’t something I prioritised and I know firsthand how hard it is to change that. The decision to put your health first, when life is full and energy is low and everything else feels more urgent, is not a small one. I don’t take that lightly with any of my clients.

My journey to exercise physiology was shaped by some of the most challenging chapters of my life. I experienced postnatal depression and anxiety, particularly after the birth of my eldest, and movement became my therapy in the truest sense. It didn’t fix everything overnight, but it gave me something to hold onto when not much else did. Then my youngest daughter was born prematurely with severe hip dysplasia, and watching her fight so hard in those early months made something crystal clear to me: movement is not a luxury. It is medicine. And access to the right support, at the right time, can change everything.

Those experiences are why I do this work and why I do it the way I do.

I’m not here to hand you a generic program or tell you to just move more. I’m here to listen, understand what’s actually going on in your life, and build something that genuinely works for you. Not a version of you with unlimited time and energy, but the real you with a to-do list that never ends, competing demands pulling you in every direction, and a body that’s been through things.

I know what it means to try to look after yourself when you’re already running on empty. I also know that behaviour change, actually shifting the way we move and live, is rarely about motivation alone. It’s about understanding, habit, compassion, and having someone in your corner who doesn’t give up when things get hard.

One area I’m particularly passionate about is exercise in the context of cancer care. I work with people across the full spectrum, from diagnosis through treatment and into survivorship, and I’m currently completing a Masters in cancer research, deepening my understanding of the evidence that underpins this work. It’s an area where access to informed, compassionate support remains limited, and one I feel genuinely privileged to be part of.

I stay closely connected to current research across all areas of my practice and I’m always looking for ways to improve what I offer. Every program I prescribe is grounded in evidence and in a genuine understanding of what it actually takes to change.

I believe movement has the power to change lives. I’ve seen it in my clients. I’ve lived it myself. And I’d love to help you experience it too.
